Informatica configure clients and repositories

Informatica server and client need to be configured after deployment. Architecture Informatica is a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Therefore server and client components need to be built and configured before using Informatica software. Configuring clients, integration software, and repository software is a prerequisite.

·         Server and client should be mounted.

·         Oracle or other compatible databases must be installed and the connection to the database must be online.

·         For repository service, users of Database must be established.
·         Credentials of the domain administrator console must be accessible (it is enabled during server installation)

To get in-Depth knowledge on Informatica you can enroll for a live demo on Informatica online training

Before you can start working in Informatica Power Center you need to set up the following components.

·         Domain informatica
·         Build service repository
·         Creation of a service of integration
·         Build Users

Informatica Domain

The Domain is an administrative core unit for different services and hosts.

You can perform various administrative tasks using the domain console, such as adding a node, creating a repository service, creating integration service, creating a reporting service, managing & developing accounts, monitoring services, etc.

During Informatica server deployment, program prompts to set up the domain credentials and the connection to the database.

When you visit the Domain Console, you need to use the same credentials.

Access the Home Page for Administrators

Step 1

Open the administrator home page from the system menu

In the web browser this will open domain home page.

Troubleshooting- If the home page does not open, verify that the operation of Informatica 's server and database service are up and running. If not, then continue the same.

Step 2

Enter your domain credentials (these credentials are created during the installation of servers).

Step 3

The Informatica administrator home page will appear after successful login.

Build Service Repositories

The pre-requisite is to have a database user created in the database along with basic privileges (connect, resource), as this service maintains repository data in the database. Using the allow version control method, you can build versioned artifacts in repository.

You may create a repository by choosing oracle, DB2, Sybase or SQL Server databases

Step 1

Domain name by right-clicking

Choose New Alternative

Choose registry service Power Center.

Step 2

In a panel below

Join Registry Name

Choose License

Click Node

Click on button Next. Learn more from Informatica training

Step 3

 In a panel below,

Enter property in the database.

Select the option – allow version control, if Informatica development requires version control feature.

Choose the Finish button.

Remember-the name of the link string is the name of the service name of the database case.

Step 4

It will build the repository service which will be classified under the domain tree.

Troubleshooting

If there is an error during the development of the server, check whether the correct credentials for the database are given and the link string is right. Recycle repository service after any changes made to repository assets to make the changes successful.

Build content in repository

After the repository service is created it is important to build repository contents (this is one time operation for a repository). You can not start the repository service without content on the server. Repository material is essentially database tables containing information about objects generated in Informatica.

Step 1

Under the domain tree, pick the Repository function.

Step 2

After choosing service in the repository.

Select the menu action on the right hand side of the page

Select the option Repository Contents

Pick Choice Build

Step 3

In a panel below

Select the local / global repository options (we hold it unchecked for local repository creation)

Select version control (we keep it unchecked to skip version control features if required)

Click Alright.

Step 4

Shift repository service from exclusive to standard mode once repository content is created

Note – If the repository is in exclusive mode, users can not connect to the repository

Pick Repository's Edit Property Choice

Step 5

 Start

Choose between exclusive and regular mode

Choose the Ok button.

When completed, the service to the repository will run in normal mode.

Build Service Integration

The Integration service is responsible for workflow execution. Any time any workflow is performed from a workflow manager, scheduler, or command prompt, a request is received from the integration service. This service locks the respective workflow, gets information from the Informatica repository about the workflow, mapping & session and executes the workflow. This service also generates workflow logs, reads parameter files, creates process threads to execute workflows, performs any other tasks generated in the workflow manager, etc.

To build a service for integration

Step 1

Right-click the domain navigator

Choose New Alternative

Pick integration service with Power Center

Step 2

We'll, in this stage,

Enter the name of the service Integration

Choose a Warrant

Pick a node, and then click on next.

Step 3

In the following page

Choose Server Service

Enter Username and Password of Informatica Administrator.

Click Finish.

Step 4

To allow Service Integration.

Click Domain Tree Integration Service and select Actions option.

Pick the choice Trigger service

When building and activating both the integration and repository services, they should be in running state.

 Configure Domain and Application

You must configure the Informatica domain at the client before you start using the Informatica integration and repository feature of the Informatica Server. Following steps are required to attach the domain at the site.

Step 1

Open the repository designer on Informatica

Choose Server Menu

Pick Domain Configuration

Step 2

Select the option Add new domain

Step 3

In the Window add domain

Enter your domain name

Enter the Host Gateway

Enter port Gateway (the port no is allocated during the installation process of the Informatica server)

Choose Ok

Step 4

The archive will appear on the right hand side of the window. Click the checkbox and Ok.

The repository will be described in the navigation tree to the repository manager.

Create app

A legitimate Informatica user is required to create mappings in Informatica designer and perform various tasks, such as executing workflows, managing repository files, monitoring workflows, etc., and the user must have privileges. A user can be system administrator or developer based on the assigned roles. Based on requirement, you can build any user no.

To build User of Informatica

Step 1

Pick the Security tab in the Informatica Administrator home page

Step 2

We'll, in this stage,

Select tab User

Choose Action Panel

Select the option User Build

Step 3

Create User Page

Enter the name you want to login to

Enter password you like

Confirm your Password

Choose Ok

Step 4

To grant the privilege, the user must have the privilege of domain and repository

Click on your username

Click on the tab Rights

Domain choose.

Step 5

 In the Roll Edit Fenster

Pick domain checkbox

Pick Registry Service checkbox

Choose Ok.

This grants the user the server and the domain privilege

You will now be able to connect via client tools to the repository.

This completes the exercise of creating a repository service, creating an integration service, configuring a domain, creating a user and introducing a repository inside the system.

Conclusion

I hope you reach to a conclusion about repositories. You can learn more through Informatica online Training.
